AONB: Cotswolds

Glorious Cotswold Grasslands

Glorious Cotswold Grasslands project is aiming to create/restore 100ha wildflower rich grassland. Supported by their Voluntary Wardens, the Board’s staff will extend and link existing grassland sites by collecting local seed with a brush harvester, using green hay techniques and providing advice to land managers.

Glorious Cotswolds Grasslands is a £300,000 three year project to establish the Cotswolds AONB as the largest connected network of wildflower rich grassland within the band of Jurassic limestone between Portland and Hull, to significantly raise awareness of its importance and function. To break the cycle faced by many projects of ‘boom and bust’ due to the temporary nature of funding, the project aims to become self-financing over the delivery period and continue the work into the future on a commercial basis.
