University of Derby – Research Consultant

Kirsten spent 15 years working as a Research Psychologist working looking at compassion focused therapy. She then moved to Cardiff where she worked for 4 years as a Research Consultant in a clinical trials unit. She has always had an interest in nature, but this really blossomed in Cardiff where regular volunteer trips to Flat Holm island working on the gull colony and being an active member of the Cardiff conservation volunteers turned her into a nature addict.

She is working with Cardiff Council to assess the health and wellbeing benefits of greening up a deprived urban area (Greener Grangetown). She currently works on a project called Improving Wellbeing through Urban Nature (IWUN) which involves tracking wellbeing in urban green spaces through a smartphone app called Shmapped.
