Cattawade Marsh

Outstanding beauty, outstanding opportunity

Tuesday 9th – Thursday 11th July 2019

University of Essex, Colchester

#L4L2019 will take place at the University of Essex, Colchester from 9-11th July.

Outstanding beauty, outstanding opportunity the Landscapes for Life Conference 2019, will look at the role of natural beauty in nature recovery and will inform, enthuse and engage delegates during a time of unprecedented change and opportunity.

With the Designated Landscapes Review in progress, the Environment and Agriculture Bills due soon and the Governments aspiration communicated through the 25 Year Environment Plan, to leave the environment in a better condition than they inherited, it has never been a more important time to  demonstrate the value of designated landscapes.

During the conference, which will form part of the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act that paved the way for designated landscapes, delegates will have the opportunity to shape a ‘Colchester Declaration’. This will act as a statement of intent on how a network of designated landscapes can act together to promote real change.

Speakers from a biodiversity, environment and academic background will seek to challenge delegates on what they currently do and how the network might work to support environmental enhancements.

Site visits will explore a variety of topics relating to natural beauty. Workshops, project carousels and structured question and answer sessions will ensure delegates have the opportunity to champion their views on the challenges set by the speakers.

There has never been a more important time to come to the Landscapes for Life Conference 2019. The NAAONB is running Landscapes for Life Conference 2019 in association with the Suffolk Coast & Heaths AONB and Dedham Vale AONB Partnerships who will be hosting the site visits.

#L4L2019 will be an excellent opportunity to meet and network with fellow landscape professionals from across the UK.
