Annual Conference 2022:

The Nation's Landscapes? Peoples and Places.

We are pleased to announce that registration for the Annual Conference 2022 is now open! It’s all change for 2022 – we will be holding the conference from Tuesday 13 to Thursday 15 September at Lancaster University. COVID-19 has affected venue availability, so we’ve moved away from the usual July slot and have slotted the event into the time between schools going back and university term starting.

The northern AONBs are this year's hosts; they are looking forward to welcoming you and showcasing a range of projects.

The theme for this year's conference is Engagement, in its widest sense. Speakers from inside the protected landscape network and the wider world will talk about a range of subjects: ethnic minority communities, financial and social deprivation, young people, improving mental health, education, effective use of social media, farming, nature recovery and biodiversity. This encompasses a multitude of different communities of people, hence 'peoples' (plural) in the conference title.

In line with the Engagement theme, we have reimagined the conference programme with a view to encouraging attendance at the entire conference. The full programme will be available soon; in the meantime add the dates to your diary and book your place. You'll need to look at the wide range of tickets available before booking.

After a year off, the Bowland Award is back. The deadline for entries is Friday 10th June; in brief, entries should align with the conference theme, covering activities that have taken place since the last face-to-face conference in 2019.

We look forward to bringing everyone together in September.
